Cordyceps - Test results!

Mighty Fungi cordyceps_research

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO TEST MUSHROOM EXTRACTS?

When consuming Cordyceps extract, make sure that you are familiar with the quality of the product provider. Dietary supplement brands often only chase profits and do not control the quality of their products. Mushroom fruiting bodies are often powdered together with mycelium and mushroom feed. In most cases, it is not even known what the raw material grows on. The result is mushroom powder with unknown additives.

The market is full of various elixirs, powders, syrups and capsules. Unfortunately for us, we cannot say which of the aforementioned is the best, but when consuming mushrooms on a daily basis, we definitely recommend being aware of the quality of the mushroom extract provider. Ask yourself if the product provider has listed:

  • where does the mushroom extract come from?
  • what is the concentration of the mushroom extract?
  • is it pure mushroom extract?
  • what is the content of active ingredients?

Our Cordyceps extract comes from the Changbai Mountains in China, with a 20:1 concentration, and it is a completely authentic Cordyceps, picked from the wild.

We have tested our Cordyceps extract and according to the results we are  the best in the world! Our mushrooms have an exceptionally strong amount of all active components!

You can see the test results in the picture below!

Great, but what does it all mean?

Now let's explain a little what all those numbers, complicated names and percentages mean.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

1. What is Cordycepin?

In short: Cordycepin is a natural antidepressant.

Various bioactive substances are attributed to Cordyceps, but the most important is cordycepin, due to its extremely healing and nutritional potential. [3]

The mushroom's beneficial active ingredient 3'dA or (3'-de-oxyadenosine) is the main reason why Cordyceps has been used as an effective natural medicine for centuries. It has anti-tumor, anti-parasitic and anti-bacterial properties. [2] Cordycepin reduces stress and balances sleep.[1]

Cordycepin is considered a natural (and very effective) antidepressant precisely because of its ability to reduce inflammation and fungal infections. Namely, inflammations and fungal infections in the body are often hidden sources of depression. [1]

2. What is Adenosine?

In short: Adenosine dilates heart arteries, lowers anxiety and balances sleep.

Adenosine affects the heart and blood vessels. Namely, it helps to widen the blood vessels that reach the heart and thus improves the blood supply to the heart muscles (widens the heart arteries). Adenosine moderately balances the heart rate and reduces the speed of movement of impulses between the heart muscles. It works opposite to adrenaline and has a calming effect. Adenosine can also be used to control blood pressure due to its blood pressure balancing effect. [4] Adenosine lowers anxiety and balances sleep. [5]

3. What is Uridine?

In short: Uridine helps to heal damaged cells, primarily used in nervous system disorders.

Uridine is an organic molecule that is a constituent of ribonucleic acid (RNA). RNA plays an important role in protein biosynthesis. Uridine helps to heal damaged cells. It is mostly used in the treatment of neurological diseases and is primarily associated with brain functions. It also helps with nerve and muscle inflammation due to its cell-restorative potential. In addition, uridine has a sleep-promoting and memory-improving function. Although the use of uridine in depression, epilepsy and other disorders affecting the nervous system has not yet been sufficiently studied, it is believed to be a potential drug for neurological disorders. [6]

4. What is Beta-Glucan?

In short: Reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and cholesterol. Supports digestion and the immune system.

Beta glucan has a positive effect on human health. Beta glucan is a healthy fiber. For example, soluble fiber increases the time that food passes through the intestine, slows down the emptying of the stomach and the absorption of glucose into the blood. This means that your stomach will not be empty so quickly and the body can release energy stably. Beta-glucan consumption is associated with a reduction in blood insulin and cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and obesity. Beta-glucan is also an important antitumor agent. It is a recognized and important functional food ingredient.[7] This makes mushrooms excellent prebiotics (food for gut bacteria) that stimulate the gut and support the host to fight inflammation and disease.[8]

5. What are polyphenols?

In short: Supports the immune system, anti-cancer, balancing the nervous system

Polyphenols are naturally occurring plant compounds found in fruits and vegetables. Plants produce them as a defense against pathogens. They act as antioxidants in the body and reduce the damaging effects of free radicals in the body. Polyphenols have a healing effect on diseases of the heart and blood vessels, as well as a positive effect on disease prevention. These compounds prolong life and help fight cancer cells.[9] They also help to prevent neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, currently anxiety disorders are also considered a neurodegenerative epidemic.[10]

COMPARISON WITH OTHER LEADING BRANDS

Cordyceps active compounds

Let’s explain how the active ingredients of Mighty Fungi Cordyceps work compared to other brands!

  1. The measured results of Mighty Fungi are lower than the results of Oriveda, but the recommended daily dose of the mushroom extract is ⅓ higher, which ultimately makes it similar to the same indicators. However, our Cordyceps contains twice as much beta-glucans, which support digestion and give energy. Apart from beta-glucans, we also win with the indicators of polyphenols. Polyphenols are excellent nervous system balancers and immune boosters. Although Uridine 0.20% is listed on Oriveda's product page, it is still not in the list of tests. From this it can be assumed that the real tested result is so low that there is no reason to write an official document.
  2. Unfortunately, we cannot make a comparison with other product providers, because there are no public results. Therefore, it can be assumed that the product has not been tested or the useful indicators of the mushroom extract are so low that the manufacturer has decided not to publish them.

ABOUT THE LABORATORY

RINP_laboratory_tests

INTERNATIONAL RINP Inc.

Our Cordyceps product has been tested in California, USA, in an impartial laboratory called International Rinp (International Research Institute of Natural Products). Rinp's team of researchers has top-level experience in research. For example, their works have been published in scientific journals such as Planta Medica, J. Chromatography B, Nutrition Cancer, Biochemical Pharmacology. The founder of the laboratory is the well-known chemistry professor Dr. Hongyang Wang. He and his team have years of experience testing various natural products, nutritional supplements, food, cosmetics and medicines. The laboratory has the skills to perform quality control on the products sent to them, to find out the chemical structure of the product, to perform complex identification and analysis of the products.

1. Testing method - HLPC/UV method

  • HLPC, or High Performance Liquid Chromatography, is a method used to separate molecules based on, among other things, size and surface charge. In mushrooms, the ingredients we are interested in are in complex combinations. The role of chromatography is to separate these components from each other and from the fungus. After that, we can identify and quantify the active ingredients.
  • Combining UV or ultraviolet spectroscopy with HPLC allows the concentration of molecules to be determined after separation.

Watch the video below to understand it better!

2. Concentration

  • It is indeed a high-quality and potent raw material. Our extracts have a concentration of 20:1, which means that 20 kg of dried mushrooms have been used to obtain 1 kg of double extract. Many other manufacturers that just sell the extract have this ratio as 8:1 or 10:1.

If you have already read this far, you should be convinced that Mighty Fungi's Cordyceps extract is one of the best on the market!
